I forgot to mention that I am using a VAIO i7 laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. What is the problem? Is there a missing driver? How can I fix it? I can scan normally using a Canon Scan connect through the USB. I can scan using Microsoft Paint normally. The printer is on and connected through the wireless.
An error message appear in a new window: at the top it says “ScanGear” than there is a message stating “it is not possible to communicate with the scanner, the cable is disconnected or the scanner is off, verify the status, the scanner’s driver will be closed”.
I tried creating a PDF from within Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I saw that after I had done the above so didn't get a chance to try it.I think I am experiencing the same problem. Thanks very much indeed for taking the trouble to send your suggestion. Interestingly, using the proper Setup programme gave me the option to Retry a step, which then ran, whereas the small link programme from Adobe, from which the files are downloaded, did not give me this option. My internet security programme tried to block changes to my browers so I allowed those as they were acceptable changes. I clicked on setup.exe and the installation ran smoothly.
Then I looked in \ProgramData\Adobe and found that all the setup files were there. All proceeded well until the very last bit, when again, Error 1310 - Error writing to temporary file in Config.Msi Renamed the existing Config.Msi to allow the installation programme to create a new one, which it did. It's amazing how much un-needed stuff Adobe stores on the hard disk (old updates for versions of the programme I haven't used for years). Any suggestions would be gratefully received.ĭeleted all the old setup files I could find. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. On one occasion, the process got all the way, deleted all the files in Config.Msi and then produced error 1406:Įrror 1406: Could not write value to key \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar. I have deleted temp files and re-run the installation about a dozen times. It refers to a different file each time, so 41535b.rbf on one occasion, 5dfd2e.rbf on another, and 29334a.rbf on another. When the installation process nears completion, all the files in the Config.Msi folder disappear and then the error message comes up again. During the installation process, it also shows files going back to 2014, which is what I would expect given that I have had the computer for a few years. Once the Acrobat installation gets well under way, it adds many new files, most of which are zero bytes, but it does alter some file sizes during installation. The strange thing is that when I have the Config.Msi folder open in Windows Explorer, there are only two files initially (dated Nov 2016). Error writing to file C:\Config.Msi\41535b.rbf Verify that you have access to that directory. Subsequently, the installation process then got to virtually 100% of the way through and then stopped with the error message relating to a specific file:Įrror 1310. Which seemed to enable access to the folder. Icacls "C:\Config.Msi" /T /C /grant administrators:F Initially, it stopped part way with Error 1310 (Can't access C:\Config.MSI).
